How to Generate 100 AI Images at Once (4 Ways That Work)

Ryan Bennett • October 2, 2026

ChatGPT makes one image request at a time and Midjourney returns 4 per prompt. Here are 4 ways to generate 100 AI images in one run, with limits and costs.

Short answer: you can't do it in a normal chat. ChatGPT takes one image request at a time, and Midjourney returns four images per prompt. To get 100 images in one run you need one of four things: a bulk generator that accepts a list of prompts, Ideogram's spreadsheet batch, Midjourney's permutation prompts, or the OpenAI Batch API if you can write code.

We make Bulk Image Generation, one of the tools below, so read our own section with that in mind. Every number about another product comes from that vendor's own documentation or pricing page, checked on October 1, 2026, and is linked.

The four ways, side by side

MethodImages in one runHow you submitCode neededEntry price
Bulk generator with a prompt list (Bulk Image Generation, BulkImagen)Up to 100 per batchPaste a list, or describe the setNo$39/month (about 1,000 images) or a $20 prepaid pack

Midjourney permutations or --repeat4 to 40 jobs, 4 images eachOne prompt with {a, b, c} optionsNo$10/month (4 jobs), $60/month for 40 jobs
OpenAI Batch APIUp to 50,000 requests per batchA JSONL file sent through the APIYesPay per image, 50% off in batch

Why ChatGPT and Midjourney alone don't get you there

ChatGPT. Image generation happens one request at a time in the chat. OpenAI does not publish numeric image limits; its pricing page only says "Limited image creation" on Free, "More" on Go, limits on Plus, and "Unlimited and faster image creation" on Pro. There is no list upload, and OpenAI's help article describes saving images one at a time, so 100 images means 100 requests and 100 saves.

Midjourney. Every prompt returns four image options. There is no upload-a-list feature, and Midjourney's terms prohibit automated tools, so scripting it is not an option. What it does have is permutations, covered in method 3.

Method 1: a bulk generator that takes a list of prompts

This is the direct route: 100 different prompts in, 100 images out, one download.

In Bulk Image Generation

  1. Sign up. The free plan gives you 10 images a month to test the flow.
  2. Paste your prompts as a list, or describe the whole set in one message, for example "30 coloring pages of cottagecore animals, thick clean outlines, no shading". The agent writes the individual prompts for you.
  3. Pick a model. Flux, Nano Banana, Seedream, Ideogram and GPT-Image-2.5 are included in every paid plan. Use Ideogram or GPT-Image-2.5 when the image contains readable text, Nano Banana or Seedream for photorealism, Flux for line art.
  4. Run the batch. Up to 100 images generate in parallel.
  5. Download the set, or keep going with batch background removal or face swap.

Pricing: Growth is $39/month (or $390/year) for about 1,000 images, which is about $0.04 per image and includes a commercial license. Hobby is $29/month for about 50 images, so for batch work Growth is the plan that makes sense. Limits to know: it is a subscription, there is no CSV upload (you paste the list or describe the set), and a batch tops out at 100 images.

In BulkImagen (a different company with a similar name)

BulkImagen sells prepaid credit packs instead of a subscription, and credits don't expire. Batch size depends on the pack: 10 images per batch on the $20 Starter pack, 50 on the $80 Studio pack, 100 on the $320 Scale pack. It accepts one prompt per line or a CSV. Per-image prices on the Starter pack run from $0.025 (Z-Image) to $0.15 (Seedream 4.5).

Method 2: Ideogram's spreadsheet batch

Ideogram Batch Generation takes a .csv or .xlsx file with one prompt per row, up to 500 rows, and gives you the results as a ZIP. It is listed on the Pro plan, which is $60/month ($42/month billed annually). You get one model family, Ideogram, which is a good fit when your images need accurate text.

Method 3: Midjourney permutations

A permutation prompt puts options in curly braces. a {red, green, yellow} bird in {watercolor, ink} expands to six prompts, and each returns four images.

The cap depends on your plan: 4 prompts on Basic ($10/month), 10 on Standard ($30/month), 40 on Pro and Mega ($60 and $120/month). Forty jobs at four images each is 160 images, so 100 images in one go needs the Pro plan. Permutations only run in Fast or Turbo mode, not Relax, so they spend your monthly Fast hours.

This works when your 100 images are variations on one sentence. It does not work for 100 unrelated prompts.

Method 4: the OpenAI Batch API (for developers)

If you can write a short script, the Batch API is the cheapest route. You upload a JSONL file with one image request per line, up to 50,000 requests per batch, and results come back within 24 hours at a 50% discount.

For scale: OpenAI's image guide lists GPT Image 2 at $0.053 per 1024×1024 image at medium quality, so 100 images is about $5.30 at the standard rate and roughly half that in batch, before input tokens. The trade-offs are that you wait up to a day, you handle files and errors yourself, and there is no interface.

How to write 100 prompts without writing 100 prompts

Whichever method you use, build each prompt from two parts:

  • A fixed style block, identical in every prompt: medium, lighting, framing, background, what to avoid.
  • A variable subject, one per line: the thing that changes.
STYLE: flat vector icon, 2px outline, single accent colour, white background, no text
SUBJECTS: calendar, invoice, shopping cart, padlock, paper plane ...

A spreadsheet formula or a chat assistant can join the two columns into finished prompts in seconds. In Bulk Image Generation you can skip this step and describe the set in one sentence.

What 100 images cost

Bulk Image Generation, GrowthAbout $3.90 of a $39/month plan~1,000 images per month included
BulkImagen, Starter pack$2.50 to $15 depending on modelStarter runs 10 per batch, so 10 batches
Midjourney ProPart of $60/monthOne 25-job permutation, Fast mode
OpenAI API, GPT Image 2 mediumAbout $5.30, roughly half in batchRequires code; before input tokens

FAQ

Can ChatGPT generate 100 images at once?

No. ChatGPT creates images one request at a time, and OpenAI publishes no fixed image quota for Free, Go or Plus, only that limits apply. To get 100 images in one run, use a bulk generator that accepts a list of prompts, or the OpenAI Batch API if you can code.

Can Midjourney generate 100 images at once?

Only as variations of one prompt, and only on the Pro or Mega plan. Permutation prompts and --repeat allow up to 40 jobs of four images each on those plans, 10 jobs on Standard and 4 on Basic. Midjourney has no feature for uploading a list of unrelated prompts.

What is the cheapest way to generate 100 AI images?

For developers, the OpenAI Batch API: 100 GPT Image 2 images cost about $0.60 at low quality or $5.30 at medium quality at the standard rate, and roughly half that in batch. Without code, a bulk generator plan works out to roughly $0.03 to $0.04 per image, or about $4 per 100.

Is there a free way to generate images in bulk?

For small tests, yes. Bulk Image Generation's free plan includes 10 images a month, and BulkImagen gives new accounts starter credits with batches of up to 4 images. A full batch of 100 needs a paid plan or pack on every tool we checked.

How long does a batch of 100 images take?

In a bulk generator the images run in parallel, so a full set typically finishes within minutes. Midjourney permutations run in Fast mode at 3 to 12 concurrent jobs depending on the plan. The OpenAI Batch API is the slow one: results arrive within 24 hours.
